The Impact: Cornerback Patrick Robinson

Florida State cornerback Patrick Robinson was taken by the New Orleans Saints with the 32nd pick in the N.F.L. draft. Here’s a look at how the Seminoles will be affected by his departure.

What they lose:

Robinson started 13 games his senior year, having a career year. His 11 passes defended led the Seminoles, and his 52 tackles were good for fifth on the team.

Where they stand:

The cornerback position was a source of weakness last year for the Seminoles. Despite the potential and talent of Robinson, he sometimes struggled with consistency. The secondary as a whole was far from admirable, surrendering 2,990 yards through the air and 26 touchdowns.

Funny the difference a year makes. Now, Coach Jimbo Fisher considers his four cornerbacks to be the strength of a rebuilding defense.

Ochuko Jenije returns after leading the team in interceptions with four. He should improve off of a rather mediocre 2009 campaign, but his experience and leadership will be essential to the young secondary.

Greg Reid, a former five-star recruit and one of the last prizes of Bobby Bowden’s tenure, is coming off a successful season as a true freshman. He appeared in 13 games and recorded 20 tackles and 2 interceptions last season, but has really impressed this spring. His four-interception performance in the second scrimmage more or less sealed him a starting position, at least for now.

Blogging Traffic

If you work hard and have a basic knowledge of blog technology, it is possible to make a profit from your blog. The fact that most people don't is due mainly to two reasons.

Firstly, most of us have unreal expectations of how much money we will make, and how quickly we will make it.

Secondly, we don't plan well enough. We must make a realistic business plan and stick to it.

I am guilty of a third reason. I do not do enough research, and this is fatal. I am learning this a year later than I should have. If you don't do your research, everything is so much harder. And you will not reach your potential.

You need to add a plugin to your site called All In One SEO. After posting your blog into WordPress, before publishing, scroll down the page until you come to the SEO Section. You will find a box where you can enter the title of your blog, a box to enter your main keywords and also a box for a short description. This will help Google find your site. Lots of programmes will tell you to add the plugin, but not how to take advantage of it. It's taken me months to find. Right, now lets get on:

The most important part of your plan is marketing.

Marketing is something that comes easily to some, but most of us struggle. There are so many different strategies. Which ones should we try, and are they any good. And, how much are the programs going to cost.

So, I'm starting with free traffic.

The main areas we can generate traffic for free are:

Via Direct Links, Via Search Engines.

Getting loads of traffic means:

Creating great content.

Getting links to your content

Ranking well with the search engines

Repeating and repeating this process.

The secret to your success will be the content you create, and how valuable your readers find it.

The way to get started on this merry go round is keyword research. You need to find out what people are looking for. If you don't know this, you are only guessing and it will take you longer to find your profitable niche.

For instance, if you type in: "playing guitar" into Google Keyword research tool, you will see that in November 2009 there were 22,200 searches. Type in "play guitar" and there were 165,000. Which keyword phrase would you use? Its a no brainer.

How to Start a Blog in Three Easy Steps

Starting a blog has become all the rage these days. With news ones adding to the thousands upon thousands that exist every day, a weblog, or "blog" as it is commonly known, has a myriad of uses. From a place to simply vent about the troubles of your day to a pedestal to spout nonsensical ideologies, blogs have become some of the most read pages on the internet. In fact, some blogs serve as a primary source of news for many individuals, evidence that they're becoming more mainstream and acceptable. This article will outline the basic steps necessary to start your own blog and take the internet by storm.

1. The first step is often confused for the second step. Before even beginning to consider what blog platform you will use, you have to decide what your blog will be about. What's your niche? While many blogs serve as nothing more than an outlet for individuals to unleash the stress of their day, they often distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack by being witty, amusing, or just a darn good writer. If you prefer to write about a specific topic, do some research beforehand to see what others in said category are talking about, how they format their blog, their writing style, etc. Once you have an angle, be it general or specific, you can begin the next step, which is...

2. Deciding what blogging platform to use. There are a large number of options to choose from, though the most popular are Blogger, WordPress, and Typepad. Blogger is owned by Google, so they have the power of the Googleverse on their side; WordPress is highly customizable, offering the ability to customize via CSS literally thousands of different themes; and Typepad is just Typepad - very basic and easy to use. If you prefer to have your blog look more like a bonafide website, I recommend WordPress due to the potential for customization. Most bloggers I know use Blogspot, which is incredibly simple to use.

3. Once you have your blog up and running, the next stop is to start marketing it. This is much simpler when you have a specific niche, as this allows you to go to other blogs that fall within the same category and leave comments, link to your blog (don't spam!), and the like. If not, your best bet is to employ social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and Reddit. In these cases (and in all cases really), is to have quality content as opposed to quantity. If people like what they read, they will keep coming back. Start your blog off right with several top quality posts and the hits should keep coming.

And that's it. Once you've laid down the groundwork, the rest is up to you. Update consistently, and always keep your target audience in mind. With a little effort, a little time, and even a little luck, you could potentially turn your little corner of the internet into a money-making machine!
